CloseDespite rigorous pre-construction energy yield assessments, many wind projects experience a gap between forecasted and actual energy production once operational. Understanding and closing this gap is critical for improving project performance, investor confidence, and long-term asset value—particularly in the maturing US wind market.
In this joint Windpower Monthly and Enertis Applus+ webinar, industry experts will explore potential causes of discrepancy, how to identify the key technical and environmental contributors, and which best practices can help minimise deviation from initial energy estimates.

CloseWith over 16 years in the renewable energy sector, Nick is the Director of Wind Advisory. He is responsible for client engagement and delivery of Enertis Applus+ wind advisory offerings in the U.S.
Prior to his Enertis Applus+ position, he held several roles in renewable energy consulting and project development/origination. For seven years at UL Services Group, he led the Wind Independent Engineering and Due Diligence team in the US. For four years another utility developer/owner, he led project origination and development, as well as M&A efforts for renewable energy projects in the US and Canada. Nick’s most interesting work experience was serving on the Owner’s Engineer team for Mongolia’s first wind energy facility, including a seven-month site-based construction monitoring role in 2012.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 2005, including a minor in Business Management from McMaster University in Ontario Canada and is a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Canadian Province of British Columbia.
With 19 years of experience in wind energy, Daniel Ortiz serves as Director of Wind Resource Assessment at Barlovento Applus+. Leveraging his strong background in energy yield assessment, Daniel leads the Wind Resource Assessment team by supervising comprehensive technical due diligence and technical quality for diverse renewable energy projects. He is also responsible for coordinating department members.
In addition to his Barlovento Applus+ duties, he actively engages with IEC and MEASNET as the current coordinator of Site-Assessment Expert Group, contributing his expertise to the development of IEC standards, MEASNET procedures, and proficiency testing.
He earned a Bachelor Degree of Science in Physics from the University of Zaragoza and MBA in Project Management from Instituto Europeo de Postgrado.
José Eduardo Morales Raygoza is a professional with more than 5 years of experience in renewable energy focusing on wind and solar power matters at a micro- and macro-scale. Currently, Eduardo serves as a wind resource engineer at Barlovento Applus+ for Mexico, contributing to the development of wind power assessments at pre- and post-constructive levels, such as wind resource evaluations, energy production estimates, wind farms designs and in-situ inspections for meteorological towers. In this capacity, he actively engages in those tasks with a data-driven approach, always in search of bringing the latest technical knowledge in the wind industry and data science techniques with the purpose of extracting and offering his clients the greatest possible value from their data, thus generating a positive impact in the international renewable energy scene through their projects.
